Summer Exhibition 2010
The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition is the largest open submission for contemporary artists to exhibit in the world.
Now in its 242nd year, the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition 2009 continues the tradition of displaying a wide range of new work by both established and unknown artists in all media including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and architecture.

Chris Ofili Master of radiant colour
Chris Ofili’s intensely coloured and intricately ornamented paintings are on show at Tate Britain in a major survey of the artist’s career that brings together over 45 paintings, as well as pencil drawings and watercolours from the mid 1990s to today.
One of the most acclaimed contemporary British painters of his generation, Ofili won the Turner Prize in 1998 and represented Great Britain at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003.

The Real Van Gogh: The Artist and His Letters
The Royal Academy of Arts presents a landmark exhibition of the work of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). The focus of the exhibition is the artist’s remarkable correspondence.

Picasso: Peace and Freedom
Visit the Picasso exhibition, Peace and Freedom - a major exhibition bringing together over 150 works by Picasso from across the world.

Gillian Ayres at 80: New Paintings and Works on Paper
Gillian Ayres RA OBE, one of Britain's most respected contemporary artists, will unveil new paintings in an exhibition that marks her 80th birthday at Alan Cristea Gallery from 3 February 2010.
Ayres is best known for her vibrant contemorary palette and the sheer physicality with which she applies paint to canvas. The works in this exhibition contain many familiar motifs but also represent a marked progression.
